    Josh Walker is guitarist, composer, and educator working in the greater DC area and beyond.

    Over the last 17 years, he has performed in a wide variety of groups throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Mexico, and South and Central America including The Montreal International Jazz Festival, The Toronto International Jazz Festival, and The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

    Josh currently holds the guitar chair in Washington's own 'Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra', a 17 person big band that performs every Monday night at the historic Bohemian Caverns on U Street in DC.

    All of this activity is in addition to playing for countless weddings, private parties, corporate functions and similar events, and serving as a member of the guitar faculty at the Levine School of Music.
    Josh has shared the stage with artists such as McCoy Tyner, Jason Mraz, Gary Thomas, and Lonnie Plaxico.

    He has opened concerts for artists such as Charlie Byrd and the Washington Guitar Quintet, Randy Brecker, and Donny McCaslin. In 2008, Josh released his first album of all original compositions, entitled 'Inertia', on Guitar Nine Records. Josh earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, completed part of his graduate work at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and finished his graduate work at Howard University in 2010. In 2011, Josh was chosen from a nation-wide pool of candidates as the recipient of Downbeat Magazine's annual award for 'Best Blues, Pop, or Rock Solo by an Instrumentalist at the Graduate College Level'.
